The Must Sees of Maastricht

The name of this excursion says it all: Maastricht is the most beautiful city on the Meuse! An impression that will certainly be reinforced during this tour of the city, in which you'll be told all about the historic highlights and actual and figurative treasures the city has to offer.

The tour kicks off at a charming Maastricht location with a real Maastricht tradition: coffee and vlaai! You'll then visit Maastricht's most remarkable treasure room and its collection of impressive treasures – the Basilica of St. Servatius on Vrijthof square. Here you'll find treasure rooms overflowing with tradition, history, religious culture, and architectural gems. The most valuable of these is the shrine of St. Servatius (also called the Noodkist), containing the relics of the Netherlands' first bishop. Various artefacts and artworks dating back to the sixth century are also on show.

Before embarking on the second part of the tour, you'll be able to enjoy a delicious lunch. After lunch, your Tourist Board guide will take you to the city's historic centre. There, you'll stroll along the top of the medieval city wall, discover picturesque streets in the Stokstraat and Jeker quarters, and see the city's historic and beautiful squares, including the Vrijthof and Onze Lieve Vrouweplein squares. The tour ends on an exciting note with a tour through the St. Pietersberg caves.
